Luminox has unveiled the Pilot Professional, the first in a series of four designs from the watch company’s new SXC Space Collection, which will be released this autumn.
The Pilot Professional was designed with input from test pilots and astronauts. It is an analog watch with digital windows, multi-function capabilities and the company’s trademark Luminox Light Technology.
“Pilots need digital time to synchronize their operations and accurate timing down to the second is of great importance. They also travel a lot and the GMT function enables them to easily reference local or destination time zones,” says Harry van Hulten a test-pilot and Chief Operating Officer of SXC (Space Expedition Corporation). “However, when I am not in the cockpit, I want to look at analog time which is quicker and easier to interpret, especially in the dark. Analog time also looks cooler!”
Luminox recently signed a multi-year agreement to become a key partner in the space project of SXC, which is committed to making passenger space flights possible.
“We are now entering the era of the privatization of space travel and SXC is enabling the common man and woman to experience something never possible before - being in space,” said Barry Cohen, Co-CEO and Founder of Luminox.
The Luminox Space watches will be worn by both the SXC astronauts and passengers.
