As it always is, Luminox was in the news a lot in 2012.
The company sponsored the Dancer Against Cancer ball in Austria in April 2012 and in other sponsorship news, also became a sponsor of Austrian BMX bike rider Senad Grosic.
News photographers snapped the stylish Sultan of Brunei Hassanal Bolkiah sporting his ever present Luminox watch while doing official duties for his country. Now there’s a world leader with a good eye for time pieces.
On the Hollywood front, actor Taylor Kitsch sported a Luminox 3901 Navy Seal watch while saving the world in Battleship.
In Singapore, Luminox partnered up with August Man magazine for the company’s Air Series Event where people could get a taste of flying an aircraft on a flight simulator.
Asian Diver magazine featured an article by our favorite diver Scott Cassell in its Jan. - Feb. 2012 edition. The article, on shark conservation, featured many pics of Scott wearing his favorite brand of watch.
The Luminox 1807 Field Day Date Automatic watch received high praise from Switzerland’s Outdoor Blog. (No surprises there.)
Swiss extreme swimmer Ernst Bromeis found himself in the news a lot in Switzerland, always with his trusty Luminox watch on his wrist.
In Hong Kong, Luminox won FACE magazine’s 2012 Greatest Hit Brand Award in 2012, the third consecutive year the company has won the award. The watch company had plenty to cheer about as the brand had a great outing at the 22nd Malaysian Motorcycle Grand Prix 2012.
Scott Cassell was also featured in the Malaysian edition of August Man magazine, talking about his favorite subject, shark conservation, and wearing his favorite watch, Luminox.
While many people were wishing for white Christmas in 2012, Luminox did a 360 on that one and held the Luminox BlackOut Christmas party in Singapore in December. The party attracted 250 consumers, retailers and members of the Singapore Press Club, the Temasek Club (a recreational club for senior officers of the Singapore Armed Forces) and the Singapore Armed Forces Yacht Club.
In October of 2012, Luminox opened a new store in Osaka, Japan and invited the whole world to stop in and have a look around. Also in October, Luminox, together with Scott Cassell, held a press conference at the aquarium in Konstanz, Germany to launch the new Scott Cassell special model A.3054.SET. Scott went diving into the shark tank to bring attention to the drastically shrinking global shark population.
And to show its appreciation to Scott, Luminox pledged to donate $1.00 USD to Scott’s non-profit organization “Undersea Voyager Project”, for every new Facebook fan that it received, until it reached 33,333 fans.
